Training Notes for your FitCation

Is this trip the right activity level for you?

FitCations are designed by intention to provide experiences for all fitness levels. Each FitCation site has its own challenges, so be sure to read about specific locations to understand the minimum requirements for the trip.

Beginners will be offered modifications during the classes and enticing alternate activities for the more strenuous day trips.  

Advanced fitness levels will be provided with opportunities to increase the intensity during classes as well as optional workouts for high intensity training.  

Wherever you are on the fitness spectrum, there is something for you!

Lisa Vonnegut, CSCS

I have trained athletes from middle schoolers to octogenarians. My clients have included a triathlete training for a half Ironman; a 66-year-old running his first half-marathon; a woman with a progressive neurological disease fighting to remain ambulatory; people who have never moved, and people who never stop moving. My passion is empowering each person to find his or her maximal effort, without comparison or judgment.

Our classes are designed to enhance your FitCation experience and balance the effort for the day. While targeted at a moderate fitness level, I will offer ample opportunities to scale up or scale back to meet your individual requirements. To ensure you each receive personal attention, I will be available daily during my office hours to answer questions or troubleshoot your concerns.

Consistency is key for our Dalmatian FitCation. A steady pace of activity will leave you deliciously spent at the end of the day.  Our activities are designed for a moderate activity level. Participants should not be new to movement; current injuries must be disclosed so our team can offer alternatives when needed.

Our hiking and walking tours will have an option to rev it up if you’re feeling it. The pace will be adapted for all participants — go at your own speed. Participants must be comfortable with stairs.

Kayaking will be at a beginning to intermediate level. Fitness classes will be tailored to the group and appropriate for all levels.



Amalfi Coast FitCation

In a word: Stairs!

FitCation guests need to feel comfortable with the ability to manage multiple flights of stairs per day. A short walk to the beach and water taxi is 250 steps down from the main road. Hiking requirements: 3-5 miles on varied terrain, moderately strenuous level, but at your own pace. The breathtaking landscape of this area is filled with countless opportunities for stair workouts for those who want a little extra burn.
 


Sicily FitCation

Our adventure FitCation is designed at a moderate activity level. Participants should not be new to movement and current injuries need to be disclosed so our team can offer alternatives when needed.

Hikes are between 4 miles to 8 miles, moderately strenuous on uneven terrain including stairs, fire trails and single tracks, without drastic elevation gains. The pace will be adapted for all participants — go at your own speed.

River trekking will involve walking in the water over rocks and uneven surfaces.

Kayaking will be at a beginning to intermediate level. Fitness classes will be tailored to the group and appropriate for all levels.


This trip is a dream for the adventurous traveler. Each morning starts with a workout class led by Lisa, who is fantastic and pushes you to be your best.
Lisa’s philosophy of ‘Exert. Explore. Indulge.’ is what makes the trip. I met all of my fellow travelers on the trip and we quickly became like family.
